Donald Trump, Emily Mortimer, Susan Tedeschi. Comedy bits included "Boy this 'King Kong' movie sure looks incredible. Plus, I'm a big corporate suck-up and maybe if I help promote it, the brass at NBC Universal will notice and who knows? It's Christmas time and maybe there'll be a little something extra for me In my stocking, if you know what I mean," and Photography Caption Errors with The Beatles: The Biography by Bob Spitz.
Conan mentioned that because the new "King Kong" movie is produced by NBC Universal, he thought it might be a good idea to take a more detailed look at the "amazing movie."
In the segment, they first examined the budget of the movie. Conan cited that despite a two hundred million dollar budget, the film makers were forced to cut corners. He displayed a clip of King Kong crushing cars in the streets of New York and asked the audience to see if they were able to locate where corners were cut. Jack Black's personal plug of "School of Rock" was shown along with a clip exposing errors in the music played during the movie.
Conan went on talking about the film, saying that the remake is a welcome change from the original "King Kong" movie where the excessive use of 1920's jargon made it difficult to follow. A clip further illustrating this point was show. Conan then mentioned that the movie was made to suit many different audiences, but he believed it went a little too far to please football fans, citing a clip where a referee challenges a "play" that King Kong makes.
The classic scene where King Kong climbs the Empire State Building was shown, but as Conan cited, it was ruined by commercialism when a plane flew a banner advertising for Red Lobster. Before finishing the segment, Conan points out a giant Abe Vigoda is climbing the Empire State Building and that breaking news is covered.
Conan mentioned that he just got the new biography of the Beatles by Bob Spitz and he noticed a few inaccuracies with the photo captions. The first caption error told of John showing his son, Julian to Paul and Ringo but it turns out it is not, in fact Julian. Other such errors included a picture from the Beatles at the Cavern Club, the Beatles on the Arsenio Hall Show in 1964, the Rooftop concert at Taco Bell and John's bed-in in Amsterdam with Grimace.
