Did they install an "Applause" sign in the studio?

What's with all the lame and fake applause from the studio audience these days? Not all of Dave's jokes in the opening monologue deserve a round of applause and it was also very noticeable last night when Jerry Seinfeld did his stand up routine. Is Dave morphing into Bob Hope right before our eyes?

There's always been an applause sign, though it might be possible that the audio department is "sweetening" the audience reaction. SNL does it all the time.

How horrible it would be for Dave to be burdened with a turkey of a career like that nobody, Bob Hope.

He was probably referring to late-period, phoning it in Bob Hope.

Been in the audience twice, never saw an Applause sign anywhere.
