Law & Order: Criminal Intent

USA (ended 2011)

Cast & Crew

EDIT
  • Vincent D'Onofrio

    Det. Robert Goren

    9.7
This young actor pulled a De Niro to perform the role of a boot-camp underachiever turned fullblown psycho in Kubrick's Vietnam movie Full Metal Jacket (1987), adding many pounds to his normally slender frame. Because he was a complete unknown at the time, audiences couldn't appreciate the extent of his physical transformation but were impressed by his uncanny, terrifying performance. Since returning to his normal dimensions, D'Onofrio hasn't snagged a role as memorable, but has been reasonably good in Adventures in Babysitting (1987), Mystic Pizza (1988), and Dying Young (1991). In 1991 he played an Argentinian pimp with peculiar ideas about propriety in Leonard Schrader's peculiar Naked Tango Recent credits include Fires Within (1991, with his then-wife Greta Scacchi), The Player (1992), Household Saints (1993), Being Human and Ed Wood (both 1994).moreless

  • Chris Noth

    Det. Mike Logan [seasons 5-7]

    9.0
Chris Noth was born in Madison, Wisconsin on 13 November 1954. In his youth, he traveled and lived in England, Yugoslavia, and Spain but never stayed in the same place for too long. Chris studied with Sanford Meisner before attending the Yale School of Drama.
The first time Chris Noth was noticed was in the movie Off Beat in which he played a minor role as Ely Wareham Jr. (the screen brother of Meg Tilly's character). Noth played bit parts for the next four years such as Baby Boom and the TV mini-series I'll Take Manhattan both in 1987, until Wolf Productions offered him a feature role in the TV series Law & Order. Noth played Detective Mike Logan from the summer of '89 to the summer of '95. Noth made this role his own and played it to the brilliance of any great actor. The character Det. Mike Logan is a young cop who is hailed as the "soul" of the series. Through the years, the character Logan was to become a very strong presence due to the talented Noth and the the great story lines in which Logan got into a number of close calls.
Noth was aided by a great cast of characters which included George Dzundza (season one), Paul Sorvino (season two and three), Michael Moriarty (season one to four), Richard Brooks (season one to three), Dann Florek (season one to three), Jill Hennessy (season four to six), and Steven Hill (season one to present). Many characters came and went while Noth starred in Law & Order, but at its peak in season two and three, Noth seemed at home in his role. Chris Noth's and Paul Sorvino's intimidating appearance, (each standing at 6'4" inches tall) made them an excellent "Batman and Robin" partnership together.
In 1995, Noth's contract was not renewed. This came as a shock to fans of the series as they saw the "heart" (Moriarty) forced out over TV violence and now the "soul". Noth continued to work in movies as well as TV, and in 1996 he starred in the successful TV movie Abducted: A Father's Love (which also starred Peter MacNicol) and in 1998 he became a regular on the smash hit series Sex and the City.moreless

He never performed in comedy clubs, never did stand-up, did not hang out with comedians. He likes comedians though. 2) He is a performance artist. He is not a performance artist. Performance art is performance made by visual artists. He is a writer and actor who spent time around the art scene and performed at places like The Kitchen, known for performance art, but he is not a performance artist. 3) "Talk Radio" was originally an on-stage solo. "Talk Radio" was always a multi-character play. He wrote it and co-created it with the artist Tad Savinar. 4) Oliver Stone wrote the screenplay of the film "Talk Radio." The screenplay was almost entirely based on the play and some biographical information about Alan Berg, a talk show host in Denver who was murdered in 1984 by white supremacists. Bogosian wrote the screenplay with help from Oliver Stone. 5) Bogosian wrote solos before he wrote plays. Between 1977 and 1982, he wrote a dozen multi-character and ensemble performances and plays, including "The New World", "Scenes from the New World", "Sheer Heaven" and "Men in Dark Times". He began performing the solos because he was broke. 6) Bogosian is related to other people with the same or similar last names. Not generally. 7) Bogosian is on drugs. He takes a shot of Viagra before shows. Otherwise he's clean. *Not that common. We figure about .25 percent or one in four hundred Americans are aware of this truly underground Armenian-American phenomenon.moreless
