Hey! Just when you think the writers and V DO had Goren go all mature and subdued, you get the.....

    TOY STORE SCENE !!!!!

Bobby loves that play gun - he had one as a kid - and lets us know why it's special as he fires it all over the small shop, knocking down valuable collectors' items, shooting holes in cellophane wrappings, and reeking adorable little boy havoc all over the place, his partner shaking her head with amused irritation.

It's a multi-purpose gun, a "Johnny Seven, one-man-army", and an endearingly childlike Bobby still recalls every one of its seven glories, to the nervous chagrin of the proprietor. Watch what it can be!

    One - A grenade launcher!

    Two - An anti-tank rocket!

Three - An armour piercing shell!

    Four - An anti-bunker missile!

    Five - A machine gun!

    Six - A repeater rifle!

    Seven - A cap gun!

What a delightful scene! Yes, seeing the season four 'quiet' Goren erupt into little kid glee was simply enchanting. In that expensive brown overcoat with the gray undertones, with the GQ silver locks, manicured nails, and the hushed and reticent intonations ...lives a darling small boy recreating a Christmas morning.

What a living doll VD'O has made of Bobby, as well as a savvy detective. This was even cuter than the 'cherry red' car scene of season two.

Oh yeah - the story was clever and innovative too. The femme fatale trolls the conventions and meeting places of hobbyists and seduces (verbally at least) lonely guys who collect comic books or WWII memorabilia or star trek fazers. In this case, she passes herself off as a cultist of an obscure novelist who writes about vampires, infiltrating a small group who play act aspects of the novels, avidly collect first editions, and dress up like good Goths gone bad. Think Ann Rice devotees with personality disorders.

The group becomes suspicious since Ms Vamp's way out of their nerdy pal's league, and they know she is milking their buddy for whatever he's got, which of course is only money. So the devoted get her into their sexplay coffin where she succumbs to 'erotic asphixiation' (hey, isn't that an oxymoron for most folks?) .but it's her geeky wannabe paramour who killed her by sneaking in a lil partystore cannister of CO2, and he confesses after a major Goren assault on his wounded loser pride.

Bobby was rather rough on the poor guy, who in the end isn't even sure if the enchantress loved him or not. Mean thing! I'd love to see BG on the psychic attack against the Worldwide VDO Estrogen Clubists..and we don't even have coffins to hide in. Just TRY to tell us we need help, baby. You'll need that gun to do seven things. LOL!

Goren fingering that metallic bustier for longer than was necessary was worth the price of admission, too. What WAS he thinking?
