  • Knew it was coming but...

    5.5
What can you say when a network ruins a truly great show? For money? They have it, you know they do...and they keep countless shows on the air that are worthless. Yet two stars of this show they would not pay enough to stay on this show for another season, so they found a way to get rid of them.

The only thing I can say about Loalty (part 2) is that they got the title right. Goren and Eames were going to do their best to find out what happened to their captain and to say loyal to each other, no matter what. To NBC and Comcast, I just want to let you know that by letting Vincet D'Onofrio go, you have lost me also, and I believe many other faithful viewers of Criminal Intent. He was the backbone of the show...no one can replace him, no matter how good of a actor they maybe.moreless
  • WTF!!! All three are GONE!!! So dissppointing.....so few good shows left on TV.

    6.0
I was shocked to read that they got rid of my favorite pair!! It was sooo SAD to see Goran fired. Then she quit. I ran to my computer to see if they were really gone...and OMG they are. Vincent say's in an interview" to all my CI fans don't be surprised if you see Goran pop up in a few episodes. Well ...those are the ONLY ones I'll be watching. Those two actors made the show...and as one reviewer typed last week...they might as well change the name.

So dissppointing.....so few good shows left on TV. I'm wondering if the actors really wanted to leave.

Wishing them well and I hope they get alot of work...which I"m sure they'll have no problem doing.moreless
  • Goren is suspended for his actions. Nichols with a new partner continues investigating the murders and with the help of this new partner Det. Serena Stevens they solve the murders and in the end it is all for nothing.moreless

    ***** Spoilers *****

In all fairness I was aware that Erbe, D'Onofrio, and Bogosian were all gone after this week. Still this was a very unsatisfactory conclusion to a really good first part episode to start the season. I like Saffron Burrows as Detective Serena Stevens. I don't think Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio is a good choice as the new Captain Zoe Callas, but in fairness we'll have to give her a chance. Both Burrows and Mastrantonio are better known as movie actresses, but they certainly could make the move to the small screen.

Nichols and Stevens breaking of the case was very well done, but that was a small triumph in a big mess. I guess we are suppose to just deal with it.

As far as I can tell from the articles written about this the reason for the change is to lighten the show from a character standpoint and the network believes Goldblum is a better fit for what they are trying to put together as a network. Personally I like Goldblum so I will give this experiment a chance. Also we've been promised D'Onofrio will be back at one time or another. We'll see.

So a disappointing beginning to this ninth season. Thanks for reading...moreless
  • Well done exit for Goren and Eames

    8.5
It is hard to review this episode objectively because no matter how good it was, it marks the end of a relationship with some of the best characters and actors on television. I can't begin to tell you how much I will miss D'Onofrio's Goren and Erbe's Eames and their special connection. Even Bogosian will be missed. I've liked this show since the first episode.

That said, I really like Jeff Goldblum as an actor and Mary Elizabeth Mastriantonio is an interesting choice for captain. If they keep David Zayas in the new season, I think we might actually have a shot at a new L&O:CI that compares favorably with the old.

I like the way that they transitioned to the new team; it was respectful and interesting. I liked the way they allowed they new team into the case, and having Nichols and Stevens solve the case bodes well for the future. This was a case where no solution could provide real satisfaction. The captain is dead, Goren is suspended/fired and Eames has quit – and the bad guy gets away with it because of some higher purpose in letting him go. I hope that this episode is an example of what L&O:CI can still do even as it transitions to a new team.moreless
  • A sad goodbye...

    9.5
Although I am very sad that Vincent Donofrio left the show, I have to say that I liked the way the producers and writers found a dignified way to make a transition to new cast. At least they showed some concern in giving us some explanation to why the character was leaving - which kind of made sense - he was visibly burned out (probably the actor himself too..). NOTE: As far as I know, it was the actor's decision to leave the show, not the network... Thanks producers for not going with the trend in TV of not considering the fans in your decisions (aka Lost ending...) - I appreciate your taking the time to write and include in the story a transition to a new phase of the show. Of course it will not be the same without Goren and Eames, but I think the Fly (I can never remember his name, every time I took at him I see that huge Fly...) can carry a show - he is also very intelectual and works in mysterious way...moreless
