The episode is predictable in certian parts. However there is a... if I should be so bold to say, refresing surprise. The out come is most impressive and surprising. The character of Thomas Grady is a compelling element in this episode. It's refreshing to have a character who despite the love as a father, is not blind sighted to what is moral and just. Christian Hoff was very convincing and impressive as attorney Thomas Grady. His unqiue subtleties and charismatic presence is a good advantage for him as a talented actor. It should be very interesting what will happen in the future to Det. Megan Wheeler and her father. Indeed intriguing.moreless

Sounds like a simple Law and Order case, but it was not.
Starting of with the rappers as suspets would be something you expet from any other show, but NO. The amount od twist and turns of suspects that this show goes through just shows how Law and Order can keep you on your toes.
The wheeler sub stoy was very good and Julianne Nicholson did a VERY good job of acting this, very emotional and very innocent over her father, and i like this bit better than the atual story line.

Over all very good episode. A Watchermoreless
  • Law and Order Criminal Intent!

After a rapper is sentenced in courtroom of Judge Fenner, his son Jacob is found murdered with a solitary playing card left on his body. They also find out that the vehicle used to dump Jacob's body was the Judge's car. At first they think that it may have been an act of retaliation on the part of the rapper that was sentences, but they soon find that because of the playing card, there may be a deeper meaning behind it. Turns out that one of Jacob's friends got the idea to use the playing card from his grandfather. I have to admit that this was a really great episode of Criminal Intent. Not only were my favorite Detectives, Logan and Wheeler assigned to the case, but the storyline was good. I also liked that we got to see some of Wheeler's personal side. I like it when the episodes get a little personal. You could tell that she was upset when she started to learn things about her father, the father that left her family when she was only ten years old. I hope to see more from this storyline in the future.moreless

    • Wheeler's father, Johnny, was a lawyer who worked in midtown while the family lived in Armonk. One day, when she was ten, he took the train in to work and never came home. She always believed he was a copyright lawyer, but her uncle, Pete Wheeler, told her that her father was an 'in lawyer' who took bribes to arrange liquor licenses, and had a side gig as a bagman.

    ADD QUOTES
    • Megan Wheeler: Mrs. Wilcox, Colin's best chance here is to help himself. Margaret Wilcox: Don't you try to play me, detective! You got a lawyer's son, a businessman's daughter, and my son. Probably took you all of three seconds to figure out who to put the pressure on. Mike Logan: Not even two, Mrs. Wilcox.

    • Mike Logan: Do yourself a favor, Flaherty, and don't tell Twitch we're looking for him. Seamus Flaherty: You have my word. Mike Logan: Somehow that doesn't comfort me.

    • Danny Ross: So, first we have the court officer who saved the drowning homeless man? Then we got these two guys who claim the judge's Mercedes was gift-wrapped and left in the street for them. I– is it just me or are we seeing a serious decline in the quality of alibis?

    • Colin Wilcox: I don't know nothing about it! Margaret Wilcox: Colin! Is that how they teach you to speak in private school?

    • Mike Logan: What'd you see? Colin Wilcox: Borat. Megan Wheeler: I don't think that's playing anymore, Colin. Wanna try again? Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan (2006) is a popular comedy film starring Sacha Baron Cohen, who won a Best Actor: Musical or Comedy Golden Globe for his performance, and was directed by Larry Charles. It was a spinoff from Da Ali G Show that focused on the title character, a reporter from Kazakhstan who traveled to America to make a documentary. The film was highly controversial for its content, as well as disapproval from several participants, but it was very successful. Its American theatrical opening was on November 3, 2006, so as Wheeler says, it likely was not still playing when the episode takes place.
