Not much of a first half finale but as far as a regular episode is concerned I liked it.

Nichols and Eames are paired up again as Wheeler is on maternity leave. No reason why Goren was missing. I liked the patter about Nichols reminding Eames of someone (Goren) then Ross says, ya but this one is taller. Cute stuff.

Stephen Lang plays Kaspers who is a violent activator from Europe who fled to the US from a job in which he killed a banker and his wife in Europe. The ironic thing is his daughter Birgit played by Tania Raymonde was the daughter of that very banker and his wife. She never knew that and he raised her as his own. As Nichols said probably the only decent thing he'd ever done.

Unfortunately this Kaspers didn't seem to be very well trained based on what we saw. The poor setup on the botched kidnapping. He blamed that on his partner but really no one was prepared for anything that occurred and if he was so smart he should have had contingent plans.

I must admit that after we find out the girl was his daughter I was surprised by her reaction to the women Rose being there and the fact that she killed her later on. It was almost as if she wanted to get caught one way or another.

In a lot of way Kaspers did not seem to have anything really planned out. The bombing of Manhattan Commerce Bank really did nothing. There motive was not really to promote fear. It was to get the common man to rise up. Bombing an empty or full bank for that matter will not get those results.

Then at the end if that was their target it made absolutely no sense. I am assuming that she picked the final target trying to get her father released. I can't really remember that kind of scheme ever really working without the perpetrator being killed in the end. So the ending was appropriate.

The acting was good and the story was a little suspect on a couple of points but overall it was an enjoyable L&O:CI. I like Nichols and Eames together. That pairing does seem to work. Not really a finale but a standard L&O:CI just the same. Thanks for reading...moreless
