Who was the Episode MVP ?

  • A celebrity heiress is murdered in her upscale apartment and Nichols and Wheeler are called in to investigate. Her celebrity chef fiancee, his business partner, a former rapper gone clothes designer partner, and troublesome young man are all suspects.moreless

Another good effort from the Nichols/Wheeler team with some interesting twists, but you sort of felt you knew who the killer was from the start.

First you have Lisa Wesley, born of a model mother who treats her more like a sister than a daughter. The mother married up to the Governor of an island province named Lancaster K. She is basically filthy rich, twenty one, and living the club hoping dream.

You have the troubled celebrity chef Maxwell Goodwin with the wicked temper who just ask her to marry him and we are not exactly sure of her answer but it wasn't exactly yes. His business partner Larry Clay who exudes sleazeball managerial type and lies to the police the first time he and Maxwell are questioned. The two of them were partners in a failed restaurant despite rave reviews from the critics and have worked together since their private school educations together.

The there is RXO. Another dude with a bad temper who styles himself as a gangsta musician and has the ex-penal record to back it up. RXO who's name is Reginald Oldman considers himself a brand. He was working with the deceased girl and the chef on some new projects as well as giving his designer clothes to the victim to wear in public. He has an iron fisted policy with his crew and employees that the cops are the enemy and you never give information to the enemy.

Finally there is Jason the troubled young man just eighteen who sort of was like Lisa's little brother. He wanted more and she just liked the attention and liked having someone around to take care of. Sort of a enabling relationship for the two of them.

When Larry lies for no reason early on in the investigation we learn we can't trust the guy. We find out that RXO, Lisa, and Max were going to dump him on this new restaurant they were going to open which is strike two. Finally we learn that he has an inferiority complex about his relationship with Max but has convinced himself that Max can't succeed without him. This coupled with the fact he was jealous of the girl and Max's attention toward her pretty much wraps it up in a nice neat package.

One of the things brought out in this episode was the fact that all four men had really bad tempers. It was apparent in the three other characters but not in Larry. It was what got him in the end.

Not a tremendously interesting plot. Well acted and the pace was good. Certainly an enjoyable episode and worth seeing. Thanks for reading...moreless
