Basically Jeff Goldblum is brilliant. With this episode you finally get the idea that they let him play the part the way he wants to and all his acting style and qualities come flying out. He and Julianne Nicholson are great together. The final scene at the desks together was one of the better closing non-confession scenes in a long time. I think Goldblum as Nichols has finally hit his stride.
I also enjoyed the fact that Eric Bogosian as Captain Ross was much more active. It is almost as if he is part of the Nichols/Wheeler team which in reality he would be. It was refreshing to see him so involved in the actual case this time. The interchange between him and Nichols was very smooth and easy.
The story was very well put together with a lot of twists and turns. They reveal the relationship between the two women early on but it is actually touching in the end when Laura Green admits she loved the victim and it explains why her husband was so threatened by Caroline. You really believe that information. The perpetrator was certainly a suspect since the beginning of the episode as he was caught in one lie after another but the reason for the crimes and how Nichols and Wheeler found them out was very well done. I enjoyed the final scene with the security head and how Nichols put the whole picture in front of him and basically beat him at his own game. It was quite clever and a little different than in the past as they were not looking for a confession. Nichols just told him what he did and how he could prove it. Nice!
This episode was very well done and is worth watching again. Very entertaining and well written. Thanks for reading...moreless
