One of the the worst SVU episodes ever written. Starts off with a guy raping his girlfriend's sister, which turns out to be a case of "sexsomnia", in which he has sex in his sleep without remembering it. The entire case is laid out and solved in under 10 minutes. Sexsomniacs can do whatever they want, they won't get in trouble for it. The plot then shifts to an awful plot about Another Youniverse or something (Second Life spoof), where the ridiculous plot holes and unbelievable aspects of the game help detectives track down a missing girl. Bunch of fluff for 20 minutes, and then they finally find that the suspect has taken the girl to a cabin, but they don't know where! Very humorous scene (not intentionally humorous) in which the game creator hesitates to turn on the sun in the game, since everyone in the game will freak out. Luckily, this person has made an EXACT replica of his house and an exact REPLICA of the lake where the house is. On top of that, the SVU department has a program which instantly compares topographical maps of the game, to real life ones. Thank god our baddie was so helpful. They find a girl who's been waiting in the cabin for 25 years.moreless
  • Computer worlds, crime and sleep rape, oh my!

    9.3
    "Superb"
This episode started out grabbing my attention because of how weird it was for someone to "sleep sex". My interest was officially snagged when the computer element came in. Another Universe (the game from the show) is most likely a reference to a real game called Second Life (which I think is super boring). I enjoyed this episode because I love video games and technology. I had a co-worker tell me I needed to see this episode because it was 'up my ally' and she was right. If you haven't seen this one yet I recommend checking it out. I have been disappointed with this season so far of SVU (9x07 is the newest episode as I write this review) but this one was very cool.moreless
  • A masterpiece. SVU meets the virtual reality. Why do people hate this?

    10
    "Perfect"
I cannot believe people hate this episode. I thought this episode was one of my favorites and the best episode on my list. First, the episode starts off when a girl named Kristi gets attacked by her sister Rachel's boyfriend. She calls Benson and Stabler about the attack. Than they found out Rachel is missing, and they have 24 hours to find her before it's too late. Second, Benson and Lake team up together to find Rachel. They go to her friend Ginger to find her avatar Vixy Platumin so that they can find her safe. Then, they go find out the creep in the virtual reality is Wit Billions (aka Tobin Willis). Third, Benson and Lake go the Cooper's book store and arrest Nester Bucanon who wasn't responsible for Rachel's kidnapping, they found out it was Cooper. When Benson and Lake found Rachel, she was barley unconscious and breathing, she was rushed to the hospital, but they found out it was too late, Rachel was found dead. So, Tutuola and Lake arrest Cooper who's real name is Gregory Serale who was sentenced to 15 years for kidnapping of Lauren Molby. And last but no least, Benson goes to Winton to help find Serale's cabin in the woods, Stabler follows him and arrests Serale for the rape and murder of Rachel, and Tutuola and Lak found Lauren who is alive. What is wrong with people, I can't belive that people dislike this episode. I thought this episode was cool.moreless
  • Unbelievable-They topped season 8!

This is my first review on the site. I am so disappointed, I can't keep silent. First of all, what was the point of a relatively graphic rape scene when the rape turns out to be a non-issue? Shame on the writers! Then, we have the unbelievable coincedence of the sister of the rape victim being kidnapped from the same apartment on the same night? I could go on and on about the horrible dialog; shoddy plot shifts; intelligence-insulting coincedence, but I won't. I already wasted an hour of my life on this sorry excuse of an episode; I won't waste anymore.moreless
  • Absolutely terrible. I had to suspend my disbelief at the plot, the characters, and the technology in use.

    "Abysmal"
First off, I hate television episodes written by writers who know absolutely nothing about technology, but might hear a thing or two on the "interwebs". So Olivia Benson knows that the character can track his victim via an IP address on the internet, but she can't figure out to check the logs of Another Youniverse's access to match it up with IP address usage of the suspects/subpoena the telecom companies? Then - to add insult to injury - we are to assume that the company hosting Another Youniverse can't figure out where a virtual location is in software THEY WROTE without forcing sunrise? That's not to mention all the things that happen in this episode that just aren't believable:

    - kidnap victim waits 20 years. She doesn't even come forward when she is 18 to exonerate the book store owner
    - sleepwalking rapist ... wow. Just, wow.
    - store owner leaves a letter for the detectives?? Why, again?
    - the store owner's to-do list is on the back of a picture of the girl he kidnapped 25 years ago, which just happens to have the phone number of the storage unit company that rented him a unit where he is keeping a kidnapped girl?

The list goes on. I'm surprised at how many suspensions of disbelief this show was able to pack in an hour.

I have never written a review for TV.com before, but this episode completely pissed me off. Whoever wrote this episode needs to be fired.moreless

    • When Elliot is tailing Cooper and reports that he is on the Grand Central Parkway, Fin assumes he is heading for the 'International Terminal at Kennedy'. There would be no way for Fin to reasonably make this assumption without knowing Cooper's direction and specific location on the Parkway. The Grand Central Parkway serves LaGuardia Airport on the north side of Queens County, goes south to intersect with the Van Wyck Expressway in the middle of the county, and then runs east through the center of Long Island. LaGuardia Airport has flights to and from most major U.S. cities and some places in Canada, which is where Cooper was headed when they found him at the bus terminal. The Van Wyck Expressway, runs almost due south from Flushing, New York, to Kennedy International Airport on the south side of Queens County. As a long-time resident of Queens, Elliot should have known that the Nassau Expressway and the Van Wyck Expressway serve Kennedy and corrected Fin's assumption.

    • Lake collects rare books, specifically early editions of Ernest Hemingway's novels. He's been looking for a copy of The Sun Also Rises.

    • Olivia turns on channel 4 to see the press conference. Channel 4 is the channel that NBC broadcasts on in the city, as well as most of the tri-state area.

    • In the teaser, when Christie shoves the cupboard up against the door, viewers can see scuffs on the door where the cupboard obviously scraped the paint off on a previous take. The actress tried to cover them with her hand when she closes the door, but they are quite obvious.

    • Lauren Molby: I've loved him since I was 15. (Stabler and Benson stare at her) What? You think a 15 year old can't fall in love? Elliot Stabler: I have teenaged daughters who fall in love all the time. Lauren Molby: Well, I'm still in love with Gregory.
