When a two-month-old baby boy is found expensively dressed but abandoned in an alley, the SVU team have to try and find out who he is and how he got there. Enquiries lead them to an up market baby boutique where the owner is able to identify the little boy and give details of his wealthy mother. Going to the house, they find the child's nanny praying for his safe return, but it seems she was too busy in bed with her lawyer boyfriend to notice the baby whom a neighbour says was screaming.
When the mother is finally tracked down, we learn that she adopted the baby boy 7 weeks earlier and that his name is Jasper. It was a closed adoption so she knows nothing about the birth mother. Further investigation reveals that the nanny's boyfriend and the mother's fiance are one and the same person and that he has made a career out of deliberately impregnating women by putting holes in condoms before sleeping with them. It turns out he has 20 children in New York alone and another 27 in other places. When he is found dead, the mother of the baby is the first suspect, but she has an alibi. It turns out that his killer is someone who was working on the case in consultation with the SVU and she decided to end his baby making.
Terrific episode and excellent to see John Stamos and Lori Singer in guest roles. Some quality television.
