The squad is left at ends when Lake is caught in a gunfight and later takes a witness hostage.
  • We finally get rid of Det. Lake

    "Great"
This episode marked the end of the road for two of the main characters: - Detective Lake and ADA Novak. Lake is found to have shot dead another cop, and gets arrested. He gets taken to hospital. The trail takes place and Casey gets in trouble for a technically. She gets told that she is going to be suspended over it, for possibly a year of more and that she should start looking for another job. She gets paged and leaves in tears. Her and gang go and find the rapist has been killed by Lake. Who is still in his suit, from the trial. They watch on as he is arrested and taken away. The police drive off and the team are still standing there in disbelief over what has happened.moreless
  • SVU is supposidly the more caracter driven of the L&O franchisees, but the caracters frequnetly appear to have no more depth than needed for the particular episode and this is a fine example.moreless

SVU has never been my favorite of the L&O family and particularly as they drifted away from the team approach to focus more on the two detectives, Benson and Stabler, and instead of fleshing them out seemed to make them more wooden and steriotypical. This episode seemed to exemplifie how they play loose and fast with the caracters development all of a sudden we have deep seeded conflicts within the squad that we haven't seen a peep of before but just happen to make this story move along and fill it out.

Still inconsistanceis a staple of SVU, case in point ADA Novak. Suddenly she's in trouble for a technicality (all be it a serious one) when her actions in the previous episode directly resulted in the death of the murderer and a inocent suspect.moreless
  • I was excited that Lake was not coming back because of his lisp it was annoying and I like ELLIOT he is hot. Lake was annoying. I liked that Novak was not coming back because all she did was complain.moreless

I liked the episode alot becuase it did focus not just on one character but on all of them. i wished that fin and elliot would have fought because that would have been so cool! it would have made the epidsode ten times better. there were teasers that were going to fight but they didnt so disappionted it would have been so cool. but no or if liv and novak would have fought if there was a fight i would have been better like i said before because it would have duhh. i cant believe there was no fight. in the season premiere there show be Stabler vs. Fin.moreless
  • The Cast, they are a changin'...

    9.0
    "Superb"
With this episode we see the departure of Detective Lake (who I never cared for, I felt he added nothing) and ADA Novak (who I did like).

In a nutshell, Lake appears to take the law into his own hands and pays the price. ADA Novak plays fast and loose with her ethics (and procedures) and will be sanctioned. Perhaps resignation and temporary disbarment, never the less, she played with the law too and paid for it. But this is what we know watching all the Law and Order's, it's an ensemble show. Very few cast members are immune. Only the best stay around for a good long time. Of course Kragen and all the other detectives have been on forever but, like I said, only the best hang around.

Maybe that's one of the reasons I like Law and Order SVU, the show is bigger than the characters.moreless

OF COURSE i will still watch the show, but having her leave was so mean. I still can't wait for the next season!! it will be great!moreless
