  • One of the best in the series.

    9.3
One of the best episodes of Law and Order: SVU ever tonight. It was moving and painful to watch but engrossing and ended with a very rewarding finale. The acting is always good but it was especially good in this story. The actress who played the Down Syndrome girl was excellent and gave a very moving performace.
  • Law and Order Special Victims Unit!

    9.0
A concerned mother comes into the Special Victims Unit to report her daughter's rape. Katie has down syndrome, and her mother becomes concerned when she finds out that she is pregnant. Throughout the investigation the find that Katie does not even know how she became pregnant, which causes some alarm for the Detectives. At the same time, Katie's mother expresses her views on whether or not Katie is capable of taking care of her child. This is a great episode. It brings to light the fact that a lot of people take advantage of mentally challenged individuals. It is a sad fact and it was about time that some light was brought to this subject.moreless

  • Competence.

    7.5
A lot of shows tackle individuals with mental and/or physical problems, and they almost always result in the disabled seeking justice and winning in the end. That is the result most people seek when they watch these episodes, but as far as being unpredictable, this installment of Law and Order: Special Victims Unit was not anything remotely like that.

Still, it was a good story from start to finish, and ignoring the drivel parts, about as good, if not better, than your average episode of SVU, and when you are bored in the afternoon and USA Network is rerunning this episode tune in.moreless
  • A downs syndrome girl is at the centre of the SVU investigation.

    9.5
What a fantastic episode. It is so well plotted and all the major actors give incredible performances. To the actors playing Katie and Danny - they were superb. The actor playing Rebecca/the mother is incredibly moving - especially in the courtroom scene where she breaks down and gives into her daughter's wishes. And Mariska, Chris and Stephanie give wonderful performances - especially when involved with the Katie/Rebecca/Danny characters. The whole storyline shows the many facets of downs syndrome girl's life - the good, the bad and the unresolved. The ending is great too - when the accused finds out he has to support all the girls he took advantage of. Congratulations to all involved.moreless
