  • When an American billionaire is accused of raping a 12-year-old French girl in the massage room of his luxury mansion, the SVU team finds themselves dealing with far more than they first imagined as the case unfolds.moreless

Jordan Hayes is a billionaire who has it all. He also has an unhealthy fondness for having sexual relations with young girls. When a French girl, aged only 12, accuses him of raping her after she was flown to New York from France on his private jet in order to attend his party, Benson, Stabler and the officers are frustrated when Hayes uses all of his considerable power to escape justice. To top it all off, he makes a counter-claim in which he states that the girl raped HIM.

Needless to say, the detectives find his description of what took place more than a little hard to swallow, but his girlfriend and household staff all back up his claims and alibis, which means that arresting him on any charge is going to be a very tall order.

ADA Hardwicke wants to help but her hands are tied when a judge refuses a search warrant for Hayes's home, even after he has admitted that he tapes all of his 'massage' sessions. Determined to catch him, the irrepressible John Munch logs onto a blog and pretends to be a young girl and soon hooks up with Dominique, the original victim. When Dominique's blog goes viral and more and more young girls come out of the woodwork, it looks as though Hayes will spend the rest of his life behind bars, as will his girlfriend, who helped him procure the victims.

Just as the team is ready to congratulate itself on a job well done, Hayes shows just what money can do when, apparently due to the child pornography present on his massage tapes, the matter becomes federal, and he is removed by the FBI to undoubtedly serve his time, if indeed it comes to that, in a cushy federal facility, leaving his loyal girlfriend who was once a victim of his depravity herself, to face charges alone.

This was a very good episode and it was great to see all the team working on different, yet important aspects of the case, including ADA Hardwicke, whom I must admit, has grown on me and I feel is fitting in very well with the rest of the cast. The case itself was a strong reminder of just how loudly money can talk when necessary.

Very well acted, interesting and fast-moving all the way through.moreless
  • Hott little French gal and big billionaire are involved in a he said she said rape scandal which gets even nastier when billionaire's beautiful babe seems to be in on it.moreless

Okay so this episode seemed like it was going to start off strong and then it just went in the toilet. Granted I appreciated seeing every one on the team not just Olivia and Elliot working for once. I actually took great joy in seeing more of our lovable often times overlooked old Jewish cop Munch. But other than that it just seemed too short and too hectic. I also was not fond of the ending and how it just was not what I wanted. I know SVU isn't supposed to always end happy but I feel like I've gained some insight into the real world when those episodes end. This ending just failed in so many ways.moreless

Flight felt a lot like old times in the SVU squad room. It was most definitely an agenda episode, tackling the issue of how (how SVU never got to this in 12 seasons is mystifying). The entire main cast was used, and they all did a terrific job, as did Colm Feore, who played Hayes, the villain. My main beef with the episode was that it really didn't have much of an ending, it just kinda... ended. Abruptly. More intensity wouldn't have been bad either, since we knew who the perp was 5 minutes in, so the overwhelming majority of the show was spent on 'how does SVU out-manuever this guy, and tie him to the crime so tightly that he can't reach for his money bags to bail him out?'. Qualms aside, still a pretty solid episode. Glad to have Munch back (for a short time, as it would turn out).moreless
