NYPD Detective Division form number 5, "Report of Ongoing Investigation." Also called "Fives" by the Detectives. Every single open case must have a DD5 filed by the assigned detective every six months. Active cases (cases being actively investigated,) generate much more paperwork than old, cold cases. But every single solitary open case has a DD5 filed at least once every six months.
