Dean Winters returns to "Law & Order: SVU."

The actor's character, Brian Cassidy, will appear in a March episode "to testify in the case against Bart Ganzel (Peter Jacobson), the pimp who tried to have him killed earlier in the year." Unfortunately for Cassidy, he soon becomes the center of his own investigation after being accused of rape.

Lauren Cohan will play a sports reporter in a March episode of the long-running Dick Wolf procedural.

Lauren Cohan is going from The Walking Dead to Law & Order: SVU.

The actress has been tapped to guest-star in the long-running NBC procedural's "Legitimate Rape" episode, The Hollywood Reporter has learned exclusively.

During the episode, set for late March, Cohan will play Avery Jordan, a popular sports reporter who accuses her cameraman of raping her. When she learns she's pregnant from the encounter, she opts to keep the baby. The role of the cameraman has yet to be cast.

The episode will focus on the "legitimate rape" controversy that erupted during the 2012 election when Senate nominee Todd Akin, R-Miss., said that pregnancy rarely occurs as the result of what he called "legitimate rape." (Akin later issued an apology for his remarks.)

For Cohan, the casting comes after her Walking Dead character Maggie was sexually abused during an episode of the zombie drama earlier this season.

In addition to Walking Dead, Cohan's credits include The Vampire Diaries, Chuck and Supernatural. She's repped by APA and Liberman-Zerman.

Law & Order: SVU airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. on NBC.

Exclusive: SVU Books Shameless Star for Episode About Violent Youths

Following Law & Order: SVU's headline-ripping take on Chris Brown and Rihanna's rocky relationship, the veteran NBC drama is poised to explore another hot topic.

Shameless star Ethan Cutkosky has been tapped to play a troubled boy named Henry Mesner, TVGuide.com has learned exclusively. Despite his seemingly normal and supportive upbringing, and various diagnoses and prescriptions, Henry has become increasingly antisocial and his capacity for violence is escalating.

"The question for our detectives is," executive producer Warren Leight tells TVGuide.com, "is Henry a born psychopath?" To help answer that question, Benson (Mariska Hargitay) & Co. will turn to Dr. George Huang (returning guest star BD Wong) for his expert opinion.

The episode comes in the wake of mass shootings by young men in Aurora, Colo., and Newtown, Conn. Although we hear the episode doesn't depict any scenes of mass violence, the show will explore questions about what happens to troubled young kids who don't get the help they need.

Cutkosky, who plays Carl Gallagher (a fairly disturbed kid in own right) on Shameless, has also appeared in such films as The Unborn and Conviction. Wong, a former series regular who last guest-starred in a late Season 13 episode, most recently starred on NBC's short-lived Awake.

Law & Order: SVU airs Wednesdays at 9/8c. The episode is currently slated to air April 24.

Law & Order: SVU Exclusive: Kathryn Erbe Returns for 'Big' Fin Episode

When Law & Order: SVU's Fin finds himself in danger this May, an old friend will be around to lend a hand.

Kathryn Erbe's Alexandra Eames will make her second appearance of the season in the May 8 episode, executive producer Warren Leight tells TVLine exclusively.

The Law & Order: Criminal Intent mainstay will show up when someone related to Fin's past as a narcotics officer begins causing trouble for the SVU detective . What happens is "so big, she's called in," Leight says, adding that the idea for the episode originated with its star Ice T.

"He said, 'I saw after that Rollins-and-her-sister episode, the fans really like it when we're in harm's way," the EP recalls. "'And don't forget, I used to be a narcotics officer. There's got to be a lot of people who want me dead.'"

Hip-hop artist 2 Chainz also appears in the episode as "someone Fin dealt with in the past," Leight says. "There's a lot of bad blood from Fin's past involved in it."

Emilio Rivera (Sons of Anarchy), Yul Vasquez (Magic City) and Cathy Moriarty (Raging Bull) also appear in the episode

the end of SVU's season is serving up a nightmare smorgasbord for its fans. On May 1, the aforementioned assault on a young woman "turns into a difficult legal case that, in many ways, rests on the testimony of an Army vet (Once Upon a Time's Eion Bailey) who has PTSD," executive producer Warren Leight previews. Next, the May 8 episode centers on someone from Fin's past who's holding an extreme grudge. "In the teaser, someone takes a shot at our guys and hits," he says. "It's a desperate race for 40 minutes to figure out who's doing it, how they're doing it, how to get them." Then, the season's penultimate outing on May 15 is "a pure mystery" in which an unconscious woman in a rowboat washes ashore next to the mayor's mansion in Manhattan. "It's a story about the double lives that people lead," Leight teases.

MAY 22 SEASON FINALE Right now, even Leight isn't exactly sure how SVU will finish its 14th season. What he does know: The finale is about a serial rapist/killer "who's very lucky and has managed to escape... capture over and over. We call him The Beast." Olivia decides she's going to nab the perp once and for all... but her fate ultimately rests in NBC's hands. "Because we don't know yet if the show's coming back or not, we don't know how the episode ends yet," Leight says wryly.
