Episode Summary

EDIT
A missing teenager found beaten and tied up in a college dormitory under construction claims that she was raped by three students, but as the investigation proceeds and information obtained by the police and the press causes her story to unravel quickly, the girl recants. Since Benson remains convinced that a rape did occur, the focus of the investigation shifts to the girl's overly-protective stepfather who has resisted the investigation from its onset. When the girl finally tells the truth about the attack, it becomes apparent that her lies were calculated to protect her innocent stepfather from physical and financial ruin, because the girl says her father's boss raped her. After the girl says who attacked her a previous victim comes forward and says that she had the same attacker.moreless

A missing 16 year old named Tandi is found tied up in a construction site. She claims that she was walking home and two men grabbed her, after asking her if she wanted to go to a party. At the start of the investigation, Detectives Benson and Stabler believe that army cadets at the local college are to blame for Tandi's rape. When a media whirlwind goes out of control, one of the suspects is put in the hospital, and Tandi later recants her statement. The Detectives determine that most of this situation was staged, in an event to protect her step-father.

This was a good episode. It is one of the episodes that keeps you guessing who the perp is. You think that you have it figure out, and then the Detectives find some new evidence that points you in a completely different direction.moreless

    • Elliot Stabler: Ya know Tandi's face was on the TV and newspaper all weekend long. How come you didn't report seeing her?
Cadet: I guess I just didn't put two and two together.
Elliot Stabler: Yeah, I could see where that would be a problem for you.

    • Elliot Stabler: Do you think you could recognize her again?
Cashier: Sure could. (Stabler pulls a picture out and shows it to him) That's her.
Elliot Stabler: You've been very helpful, Thank you.
(Stabler walks outside where Olivia is on her phone with Fin)
Olivia Benson: Fin, it's Liv. Look can you check with the lab for food wrapper and soda cans found at the scene? Yeah, great, thanks. (hangs up the phone)
Elliot Stabler: Don't get your hopes up.
Olivia Benson: He didn't recognize Tandi's photo?
Elliot Stabler: He recognized my daughter Kathleen.

    • Mike Tucker: I've know Tandi since she was 8. I watched that girl grow up. I supported her family when her father was sick. I've loved her like a daughter and to suggest that I might harm her is disgusting.
      Elliot Stabler: I'm touched.

    • Olivia Benson: I've never met a victim who testified against their attacker and regretted it afterwards.
