  • Rape On The Roof

    8.0
The unit investigates a series of rapes, and murders on rooftops in Fin's old hood. Stabler assumes it's an HIV infected ex-con named Leon who has a reputation of sweet talking young girls for sex. Stabler wanted to put him back behind bars after he caught Leon attempting to have sex with an underage girl on the rooftop. But the rapes couldn't be traced to Leon. And to make things worse, Leon is found dead of a drug overdose before another attack occurs. The squad made a mistake of going on a wrong path. Then, a break in a case leads Fin to a music industry promoter, who's selling drugs on the side. Fin is frustrated about the situation and confronts the monster that he'll have his last meal before he dies in prison.

I liked this episode. It shows us how emotional Fin and other people get when their loved ones are raped and murdered. 'Rooftop' is one of my favorite episodes. You gotta be careful dealing with shady people. Cragen don't like what the cops did, but they did save a life.moreless
  • Law and Order Special Victims Unit!

    8.0
When several rapes occur in Fin's old neighborhood, the Detectives of the Special Victims Unit investigate in order to put an end to these crimes. Detective Stabler thinks that recent parolee Leon Tate is behind them. But when Tate is found dead on the rooftop of his apartment building after ODing, they have to look elsewhere for their suspect. This is a really good episode. You are totally convinced that Leon Tate was behind all of the crimes, but when you find out that he isn't it is a definite twist to the storyline. It was nice to see that this episode had a lot to do with both Detective Elliot Stabler (because of his fixation on Leon) and Detectice Fin Tutuola (because the crimes were set in his childhood hometown).moreless

    • Malik "King" Harris: (on the verge of a death sentence for the murders) I want a deal.
Fin Tutuola: (snickers) Want a deal? How 'bout right before we execute you for killin' those girls, I bring you your last meal? How's that?

    • (Tutuola and Cabot leave the precinct's observation room.)
      Alex Cabot: Fin.
      Fin Tutuola: Counselor.
Alex Tutuola: You and Rodney Thompson put on quite a performance when you let him out of the court.
Fin Tutuola: What are you talkin' about?
Alex Cabot: Setting Harris up by telling Thompson the only way you were gonna get Harris' DNA is if he attacked him.
Fin Tutuola: Thompson's not a perp. I can't force him to do anything.
Alex Cabot: No, but you could've given him the idea. Did you?
Fin Tutuola: You really wanna know?
      Alex Cabot: No.

    • (The detectives arrest King.)
Fin Tutuola: It's over, Your Highness.
Malik "King" Harris: You ain't got nothin' on me, man.
John Munch: Just takin' a bite outta crime.
Olivia Benson: Just like you took a bite outta Rodney Thompson's arm.
Elliot Stabler: You left your DNA. Thought you were smarter than that.

    • (during arraignment on the drug charge)
Judge Preston: Remand, Miss Cabot? On a third-degree possession charge?
Alex Cabot: Mr. Harris provided the drugs to young women. The People believe he is a danger to the community.
      Judge Preston: Counsel, approach.
(Alex and Conrad approach the bench)
Judge Preston: Miss Cabot, I have 40 more cases on the docket, and you're wasting my time on this frivolous garbage?
Alex Cabot: Your honor, it is the People's position that we...
Judge Preston: You screwed up your murder case, and now you want me to do your dirty work for ya? Not gonna happen. Step back.
(the attorneys return to their positions)
Judge Preston: Bail is set at $2,000, cash only. (bangs gavel) Next case.
Rodney Thompson: (charges at King) Son of a bitch!
(He punches the defendant and gets him in a stranglehold.)
Rodney Thompson: You killed my sister, man! He's a cold-blooded murderer!
Judge Preston: (bangs gavel) Officers! Officer! Officer! Clear the court!
(King bites Rodney on the arm; the court officers and detectives break up the fight.)
Rodney Thompson: He just bit me! The bastard bit me!
Malik "King" Harris: (escorted out) C'mon! Bring it! Come on!
      Judge Preston: Remove that man!
Rodney Thompson: You can't fight like a man, but you kill little girls!
      Fin Tutuola: We'll take him!
      Rodney Thompson: Take me?
Fin Tutuola: Yeah. You under arrest for assault.
Rodney Thompson: Whoa! He gets away with murderin' my sister, and you takin' me?!
Fin Tutuola: Shh! Just shut up.

    • Elliot Stabler: Well, my old man never approved of a single thing I ever did. I don't go around raping and killing young girls.

    • Elliot Stabler: Fin, thanks for taking my back with Mrs. Tate.
Fin Tutuola: Leon was scum. He was gonna kill some innocent girl if you didn't stop him.

    • Alva Tate: (to Stabler) You happy now?
Elliot Stabler: Mrs. Tate, I'm sorry about Leon.
Alva Tate: Don't you dare say you're sorry. You're glad he's dead. He didn't kill those girls, but you killed him anyway. You murdered him.
Fin Tutuola: Mrs. Tate, Detective Stabler was doing his job.
Alva Tate: My son was innocent.
Fin Tutuola: Your son was gonna kill somebody with his HIV. We had to stop him. We didn't put the needle in his arm.
Alva Tate: You didn't. But you all stick together, don't you?

    • M.E. Warner: (about the woman who was raped and murdered) It couldn't have been Leon Tate.
Olivia Benson: What are you talking about?
M.E. Warner: The victim's still in rigor. Probably killed this morning. Tate was dead by last night.
      (Stabler stands upright, shocked.)
      Olivia Benson: Elliot...
Elliot Stabler: I wanted it to be Leon.
      Olivia Benson: Everything fit.
Elliot Stabler: We wasted time. Another girl's dead because I went down the wrong road.
