  • A death of a reporter.

Good news to report that there is a strong chance of a renewal and a 20th season (which would tie Gunsmoke's record) for Law and Order next year. That may be on NBC or USA Network, but the show is most likely coming back.

Watching old episodes on TNT you just do not get the same grittiness or intensity in the newer years. I don't know if it's that the cast is too comfortable or too weak, but I miss the days of Lenny and Ed. You had humor, some good action and confrontation. Lately it seems like the District Attorney's Office has just gotten too lazy.moreless
  • Just great as always and who says its not Gritty?

    9.0
As a UK citizen there not very much US TV I like certainly not from the last 20 years , but Law and Order is brilliantly written and touches on prejusdices, politics and race and just comes back to what Crime and Justice is about , There are always victims and the Police and DA have to do their job and bring criminals to justice whoever they are .. even Brave Firemen. I do however think that the New York jury in this episode would not have convicted the fireman for 2nd degree .. on the evidence we saw in the show. Just to say I never really knew Linus Roache. what a great actor he is... the question is will Jack McCoy get re elected? I guess it all depends on whether theres a season 20 . which surely there must be. Tell me guys in the states does the show still get good ratings ? Especially with L&O CI and other similar shows.moreless

    • Jack McCoy: Sometimes a half-measure of justice is worse than no justice at all.

    • Jack McCoy: I have nothing but respect for firemen. Imagine what it takes to run into a burning building, save life and property. It's bad enough your murder suspect was a probationary firefighter and that hazing might have played a role. You don't need to put the rest of the fire department in the crosshairs.
      (McCoy leaves the room.)
Cyrus Lupo: More like candidate McCoy doesn't need it.

    • Dr. Elizabeth Rodgers: Mr. Spence had his stomach pumped and spent two days at Suffolk County Hospital.
      Cyrus Lupo: From eating what?
Dr. Elizabeth Rodgers: Dog food. He had internal bleeding. Dog food contains ground bone meal. The human intestinal tract is not meant to digest that.
Kevin Bernard: Why would someone deliberately eat dog chow?
Dr. Elizabeth Rodgers: Well, unless he was starving to death, or at my ex-sister-in-law's for Thanksgiving, he wouldn't.

    • Kevin Bernard Is that L.T.'s magnifying glass?
Cyrus Lupo: Yeah, I borrowed it off her desk.
Kevin Bernard: Oh, man, when she finds out, you're gonna need it to find the pieces of your face around this squad room.

    • Cyrus Lupo: (about the crime scene.) Hard to tell where the renovation stopped and the ransacking started.

    • Kevin Bernard: Maybe the French Connection?

The French Connection is a 1971 film featuring Gene Hackman as a narcotics detective in NYC.
