Special billing was given to Tammy Blanchard (and) for this episode.
A part of this episode - when the little girl Nicole was feared lost in a small boat at sea only to be found safe in a shed - seems to be ripped from the headlines of the Falcon Heene case. He is the boy who, in 2009, was feared lost in an experimental helium balloon only to be found safe at home.
Some aspects of this episode are ripped from the headlines of the Sean Goldman case. In 2004 when Sean was four years old, his mother, Bruna Bianchi, took him on vacation to her native Brazil and then unexpectedly filed for divorce from his American father, David Goldman. She was ordered to return to the United States for a custody hearing but refused. Four years later, Bruna (who had remarried) died giving birth to her new husband's child. After a lengthy court battle with the Bianchi family, David was awarded custody of Sean. Sean was returned to his father in December 2009.
Some aspects of this episode are ripped from the headlines of the Climategate e-mail scandal that first came to light in November 2009.
