When the investigation into threats on a 5-year-old girl leads to a judge that Kincaid had been romantically involved with when she clerked under him, she asks Ben to take her off the case. When Thayer is brought to trial, he insinuates that Kincaid deliberately pointed the witness in his direction, claiming that she had approached him in an inappropriate manner while she worked with him.moreless

      • Lennie Briscoe (to the video technician): Could we hear that again in English? I cut my teeth on 45s and Fats Domino.

      • Arthur Gold: No room in that cold prosecutor's heart for a little compassion, huh? Ben Stone: Arthur, I have compassion for the criminal justice system, and right now it deserves better than Joel Thayer.

      • This episode apears to be ripped from the headlines of the Sol Wachtler case. Wachtler was a New York Chief Judge when the news of his affair with associate Joy Silverman hit the news. Wachtler was arrested for threatening not only Silverman's life but also that of her daughter. Wachtler eventually pled guilty to harassment and was sentenced to jail time. During his career on the bench, Wachtler made numerous landmark decisions, including presiding on a case where he ruled that a married man could indeed be charged with rape if his wife wasn't willing.
