Factual Error: During the conversation between Rey Curtis and the police computer technician regarding recovering erased data from the victim's computer, two mistakes in terminology occur. Curtis refers to the hard drive as 'memory'; while some people may think of a drive as a memory device, someone as computer-savvy as Curtis is depicted would probably not use that term. The computer technician calls file fragments '...electronic flotsam floating on a sea of silicon'. A technician should know that a hard disk consists of a magnetic coating on a metal or glass platter; silicon is a semiconductor with some metallic properties, not a true metal, and is found in chips, not as part of the recording surfaces of a drive. Both errors likely came about from the writer confusing memory and mass storage.
(Husband and Wife are waiting to see Dr. Burke for couples counseling.)
Wife: You're supposed to be doing this for yourself.
Husband: What, so some shrink can tell me I'm a pig? I know I'm a pig, like most guys. Look, women want everything from one guy, guys want one thing from a lot of women. It's human nature.
Paul Redfield: (to Sheila Atkins) Your client is going to prison and you're doing a victory dance.
Lennie Briscoe: Divorce lawyers -- God's way of telling you to stay single.
Rey Curtis: Or stay married.
(Concerning the apparent lack of ethics of two lawyers)
Adam Schiff: Where did these people learn their ethics?
Jamie Ross: Law school.
Adam Schiff: Of course.
(at Atkins' allocution)
Atkins: I'm sorry.
Dr. Burke's Husband: You killed my wife to win a divorce case and you're SORRY?!
This episode seems to be loosely ripped from the headlines of the 1991 divorce and 1997 annulment of the marriage between businessman and Massachusetts congressman Joseph Patrick Kennedy II and Sheila Brewster Rauch (the annulment was subsequently overturned by the Vatican in 2005).
