Busey's appearance is too brief, but welcome nonetheless. The episode starts as well as you can expect. More of the lower quality starts of this series despite Busey. The crime doesnt particularly grab you as more than your ordinary jealous/vengeful husband!

And so it proves to be! The plot is logical if hackneyed. The supporting cast dont bring anything to the table. Locations are pretty dull and unintresting. It really with test your ability to sit through to the end.

Which if you do is worth it for Busey's performance at the end, reveal the real motive. Other than that the episode is strictly pedestrian!moreless

    • Ed Green: Vega hasn't had a gig in ten years and he socked away ten million dollars. Maybe I should get a manager.
Lennie Briscoe: Singing at a karaoke bar doesn't count.

    • Ed Green: I remember watching Vega's Christmas Special when I was a kid. What happened to him?
Lennie Briscoe: Ah, he took up with a guy named Jack Daniels.
Ed Green: Well, he's back in the limelight now.

  • NOTES (0)

  • ALLUSIONS (3)

    • Lennie teases Ed about his singing ability, saying that singing at karaoke bars doesn't make somebody a professional singer. This is obviously an inside joke; both Jerry Orbach and Jesse L. Martin were prominent Broadway actors before becoming detectives on Law & Order, and could probably make a career in music if they wanted to.

    • Green refers to Rick Jordan as 'the next Ian Schrager'. Ian Schrager was one of the owners of the infamous Studio 54.

    • This episode appears to be ripped from the headlines of the Bonny Lee Bakley case. Bonny Lee Bakley, who has been referred to as a career grifter, was married to actor Robert Blake when she was shot to death in a car outside a studio city restaurant where they just had dinner. Blake was carrying a gun but the murder weapon, another handgun, was found in a dumpster nearby. Investigation by police and journalists revealed complicated and peculiar details. Coincidentally, Gary Busey had allegedly been a planned target of Bakley's before she married Blake, but Bakley hadn't been able to acquire Busey's contact information to initiate any plans.
