Javier Hernandez: Slattery keeps telling me you got to compromise this, you got to compromise that, you got to compromise with your wife.
Rey Curtis: You don't like to compromise.
Javier Hernandez: How can I compromise if she don't do what I say?
Abbie Carmichael (to McCoy): You make the excuses, I'll make the case!
Abbie Carmichael (to McCoy): You have a high tolerance for coincidences.
Lennie Briscoe: Straightforward divorce matter. That's a new one to me.
Lennie Briscoe: The only thing I hate worse than going to the doctor is going to a doctor who lies to me.
Anita van Buren: If Lennie is siding with the ex-wife, there HAS to be something to it.
(Morris LaMotte brings Lennie and Rey an enormous divorce file)
Morris LaMotte: If people could get along better, the old growth forests might stand a chance.
Rey Curtis (seeing a law degree on Slattery's wall): He's some kind of lawyer.
Lennie Briscoe: That doesn't mean he deserved to get beat, Rey.
Lennie Briscoe: He's not just a lawyer, he's a divorce lawyer.
Rey Curtis: That doesn't mean he deserved to get beat, Lennie.
Adam Schiff refers to Death of a Salesman, a classic American play written in 1949 by Arthur Miller, telling the story of a 60-year-old former salesman who spent his life on the road trying to achieve wealth and success, in not always the most respectable ways, but has to face the fact that in the end he achieved neither. It was the first American play to receive three major theater awards.
This episode appears to be ripped from the headlines of the Lisa Smart medical malpractice case in New York City.
