  • Falco returns

    7.7
Could have been much better. Falco going off doing his own investigation was annoying. Fontana sticking up for him was great. Van Buren screaming her head off the entire time was also very annoying. This show is definitely showing its age. The stories are not as good as they once were. This plot has been done too much.
  • We know he didn't do it, but still it makes us wonder...

    9.0
Though unremarkable in terms of writing merit, "Hindsight" is pivotal in playing with the audience's mind. The opening scene shows Detective Nick Falco stumbling across a dead woman in his bathroom. While the audience is fairly certain he didn't do it, we're also not completely sure. His ambitious desire to clear his name keeps bringing him back to the crime scene, something that drives Van Buren just about out of her mind.

The interesting aspect about the episode is that his actions come back to bite him when the defense casts suspicion against him in the courtroom. His eagerness is mistaken for attempts to pollute evidence, and allows the real killer to walk free. One cannot help feeling both aggravated with Nick for ruining the case, and sorry for him as he becomes the emotional punching bag of everyone involved. Fontana, Green, Van Buren, even McCoy gang up on him at some point and remind him of his place -- just a little too late.

For what it lacks in tension, it more than makes up for it in an interesting pre-conclusion scene in which the police set up an elaborate hoax to force a confession out of an involved party. It's rare that we see an ex-con who actually seems to be on the straight and narrow, but they bring in the boy's father to help convince his son to manipulate his mother into revealing the truth about what happened that night. It all comes down to a climactic scene of weaponry and deception. I cannot help wonder if it will hold up in court. As clever as it may have been, I sensed an impending further battle between a clever defense attorney and the prosecution revolving around the laws of "entrapment."

Naturally, it's not a battle we get to see, and can only conclude that in the end, the good guys win.moreless
  • Great show once again!

    7.3
Again I love Law & Order, above the two spin-offs

As the show has Micheal Imporeilli of the Sopranos on

The good side but in a different kind of way as his

Detective Nick Falco is accused of murdering a woman he

Slept with. And everytime he tries to clear himself just

Makes him look even more guiltier and guiltier. As he would

Do just about anything to clear his name! And I don't

Blame him one bit for trying to do so.moreless
