  • A very strong episode with perfect acting.

    There were several moments when this episode gave me the creeps, the first was the intro, a horrifying scene with four dead bodies, scattered all over the room, one of them being a little girl, one can't even think about what must have happened there and what the victims must have gone through before they were slaughtered. The second time when the detectives uncovered the stolen tapes from the shop - a horror picture of a murderer dragging a little girl to the backroom just to slain her down was just enough to show.
    And then the trial, this slimy man representing himself, addressing directly the jury and the witnesses these were the times I felt a real disgust and, I have to admit, a sort of fear. I think it was one of the best portrayals of a creepy killer - his pleasing manners made you almost forget what a monster he actually was.moreless

    I have this episode on DVR so when I want to be pissed off, I watch again. I think that this story is all too accurate on the trust most people have in each other these days. We don't expect a soft-spoken, clean cut, all American man to be an evil monster but many are.

    On the security video tape, it is shocking to see this man lead a young girl to the back of the store to murder her. How cold can a killer be? This has to be one of the most heinous of all crimes. I will never understand how anyone could kill a child but it happens every day. Killers don't look like killers. They look like you and me.

    Law and Order has had some criticism by people since Season 10 or 11 up to as far as Season 15 (don't know what the thoughts are from fans for it's last half), for it's writing especially with the detectives' half of the episodes and the casting. When Angie Harmon was still in the cast up to this season I thought overall the cast was still strong. Season 10 was very good and so far this season has gone along nicely. "Hubris" along with "Amends" is one of the best episodes of this season so far.

    Was the ending a cop-out following the dramatic intensity and twists? I'm not sure. It was a good ending but I had a doubt in my mind after watching the episode that it didn't end like it should have.

    The court case was different to the normal cases seen in court which brought some freshness to the show.

    Everyone in the main cast had plenty to do. Thoroughly enjoying the scenes with Lennie and Eddie. As good as when Ray Curtis and Mike Logan were partnered with Lennie Briscoe.moreless
