        This a reference to Anthony Burgess' book A Clockwork Orange that includes "ultra-violence" by teenagers. The book was made into a movie in 1971 by Stanley Kubrick.

      • Female Student: When we did poetry, he recited a Kurt Cobain song.
        Kurt Cobain was the lead singer of Nirvana and he was known for writing angst-filled lyrics that millions of young people could identify with. He suffered from clinical depression and heroin addiction for years and committed suicide in 1994.
