The attorney for Mercedes is running down a list of medications and then the diagnosis that prompted the prescriptions. The last item on the list is followed by the remark, "She's PPD." This stands for postpartum depression. In spite of this, neither McCoy, his staff, nor the police knew that Mercedes had a baby until she tells them this herself. The victim in the case was thought to be the sister of Mercedes and not her daughter.
Jack McCoy: What the hell is this marriage about?
Abbie Carmichael: Well, I'm guessing love isn't at the top of the hit parade.
Adam Schiff: The pros will confuse the jury enough to make them think that DNA is a new pop group.
DNA is, in fact, the name of two different "pop groups." One, an American band founded by Arto Lindsay and Robin Crutchfield was active 1978-1982. The other, a British band active 1990-1998, is best known for the remix version of Suzanne Vega's "Tom's Diner."
