Southerlyn was previously the A.D.A of Civil Investigations.
Weldon's attorney tells Serena that Jack has a reputation for sleeping with his assistants. When Nora brings it up again later, Jack says, 'I married her, Nora', to which she replies '[i]t wasn't just the one.' Jack also had an affair with Diana Hawthorne (confirmed in Trophy) and Claire Kincaid (confirmed in Baby, It's You). When Claire first began working for Jack, it had also been referenced that he had been involved with all three of the previous women he had worked with.
(Observing the dead body at the morgue.) Dr. Elizabeth Rodgers: First time? Serena Southerlyn: I came from civil investigations. Dr. Elizabeth Rodgers: You get used to it. Ed Green: No, you don't.
(At a fusion cafe) Lennie Briscoe: My idea of fusion is hamburger meets French fries.
(After finding a toothbrush and cosmetics in the victim's apartment) Lennie Briscoe: So we're looking for a girl with no makeup and fuzzy teeth.
Lennie Briscoe: Seems this case would be better handled by Missing Persons. Ed Green: If you haven't noticed, they're pretty busy right now. Green's statement is in reference to the aftermath of the 9-11 terrorist attacks.
This episode appears to be ripped from the headlines of the Chandra Levy case.
