Investigating the murder of a woman in a rent-controlled apartment, Green and Briscoe initially turn their attention to janitor Roberto Ramos, who had been given a cash gift of $5000 by the deceased but claimed he didn't remember her when questioned. But it isn't long before the detectives discover that she was engaged in a long-running battle with her landlord and had been blocking the potentially lucrative sale of the building.moreless

A fairly predictable story begins when an lady is found dead on the landing of her apartment block. Motive doesnt appear to be robbery or a mugging. This first act does a decent job of setting up the next 2 acts, as we meet the two possible anataganists of the crime. The middle act also explains alot of the backstory which goes to motive and we begin to appreciate the difficult relationship that these half-siblings have. The brother and sister dynamic really is the only thing that brings anything new to the table. Their conniving
behaviour is the source of virtually all of the conflict, and together with the apparent cover up and misdirection (on Green and Briscoe) is the only source of drama in the whole 45mins.

It really builds up the greed element of the story, and gives it a wholy different angle that it may have otherwise. Thus providing a nice edge to the the final act.

However no matter how you dress it up, this episide is really just another filler in what was a poor season for L&O.moreless
