  • A shooting spree and the detectives are chasing their tail.

    9.5
A powerful storyline with an excellent and unpredictable twist at the end.

First two murders are being handled by Lennie and Ed, however, when the thirds hit occurs, Lt. arrives at the scene while the One Police Plaza are going nuts. The police have to wait till the sharp-shooter picks up the fourth victim and it's only then when they can grab some kind of motive. One can't believe the three murders would be just a cover-up for the fourth one. The suspect is arraigned and remanded, the story continues in the same, relentless, pace forward, though. You might think at first, the boy admits killing the people only to save his father, but once it turns out there's no parental link between them, Jack decides to find the kid's secret.

Do not expect a happy ending. For there can't be any.

I just appreciated the tremendous way the kidnapped and abused boy was played, the way he fixed his glasses. Very plausible.moreless
  • Very Good episode overall.

    8.7
This is a very sad episode for all involved on it. Young mother killed, along with three other people. They are killed sniper style by a teenaged boy 3 at random, one was targeted because he was gonna fire the kid's father. Turns out the kid was kidnapped 10 years before, and emotionally abused, told his family was dead, when they were in fact alive. He ends up reuniting with his real family and rejecting them, which stirs up some ethical issues to say the least. He winds up going on trial, but ends up in a mental hospital rather than prison.

The episode was very well written overall, and it was one of the rare instances where the character of Serena Sutherland and Arthur Branch were in agreement, whereas Jack McCoy did not agree with the majority, he did not favor the maximum punishment (usually this falls on Serena in this teaming, being the most liberal of the bunch). It was very well written overall, and I found myself glued to the set, which is typical of me when I watch L&O.moreless
