FBI Agent: That's Sheikh Abdel-Rahman's group. Rey Curtis: The guy who blew up the World Trade Center? On February 26, 1993, a car bomb exploded in an underground garage at the World Trade Center, killing six people and injuring over 1000. The attack was perpetrated by followers of radical Egyptian cleric Sheikh Omar Abdel-Rahman, who received a life sentence for his part in the attack and for plotting to commit other terrorist acts.

This episode appears to be ripped from the headlines of the Angel Diaz case. Governor George Pataki had removed District Attorney Robert Johnson from the case involving Diaz' alleged shooting of New York city police officer Kevin Gillespie and replaced him with State Attorney General Dennis Vacco as he believed Johnson was not seriously seeking the death penalty. Diaz later hung himself in jail while awaiting trial.
