A patron of the arts is found dead in her flat - with both hands severed, mimicking the painting 'Ideal Woman No. 6' by one of her protegs. This starting point takes us to Outraged of Brooklyn, a retired painter in a very different style, and an argument about the First Amendment which fortunately avoids descending into clich and is really quite interesting, partially because not only is 'Ideal Woman No. 6' - if only arguably - an unpleasant painting but its artist is an unpleasant human being.

Fine as the script and acting are - as always in this series - I can't help feeling that not only are the characters of the two artists in it not explored enough, but that in the case of the murderer himself some of the script concerning his life and, therefore, motivation, ended up on the cutting room floor
