A very well written episode with a new and interesting plot. The insurance fraud isn't the business of the homicide detectives unless it gets connected to someone's death. Like here - an illegal immigrant dies on the street and the police must at first determine his identity and then persuade his wife to talk. They learn he was injured at work but it proves not to be true. They follow the leads to find out the injuries were actually caused in a car accident. Even though both the medical examiner and Det. Green think the case is over, Lennie doesn't give up and pursues the investigation just to discover a big insurance fraud. A law firm with a chiropractic hired illegal workers to stage car accidents for them and then claim soft tissue injuries. And the law firm cashed from the insurance companies of innocent drivers involved in the accident.
Certainly an episode where you can't second-guess what will follow, which I like.moreless
