This is first episode of Lawman that I can honestly say I really didn't like. This was a storyline that just didn't connect with me like other episodes of the series had. The performances were fine, but there were things in the script that didn't make much sense. Mr. Detweiler was a horrible man that treated his daughter very poorly. He was a jerk. It was plain as day that Jim didn't cut his fence, the cattle getting on his land was an accident, and him throwing the rope around him was to get him to calm down. The theme of a father resenting his daughter for not being born a boy has also been done to death in several of these westerns. So has the battle of the sexes. The gunfight made no sense. Why didn't Johnny arrest her for shooting up that table at the Birdcage? Peter Brown does the lone great job here of Johnny getting worried, because he can't back down from a girl, but he can't really shoot at her either. Jim trying to talk her out of it was the right thing. I didn't like the change in her father at the end, because it was out of the blue. I did like the scene at the end with Lily asking for Johnny's gun, and Dan telling her she didn't need it, and them walking off arm and arm.
