Sam is a doctor that helps take the bullet out of an outlaw. Because, he knows to much, the outlaws try to kill him after the surgery. Sam escapes and heads for Laramie. He takes a new identity, and starts working for Lily at the Birdcage.
This was a really good story. Tim Drake makes yet another guest appearance in another different role. Was there an actors shortage back then? He does a good job taking us through Sam's journey. Sam struggles with whether to help people, or reveal his identity in case the outlaws come looking for him in Laramie. From the horse-and-buggy accident, to saving Doc Shea, it was just unavoidable. Dan and Johnny of course took down the bad guys (Dan got two, Johnny got one). You start to see Johnny also get a mind of his own and not just go along with whatever Dan says. That was a cool move of his to leap out the wind, do the roll, and then blow away the crook. Dan seemed impressed even though Johnny disobeyed him. They also come up with great endings like having Dan, Johnny, and Lily be there as Sam puts up his new sign that he's going into business with Doc Shea. A very enjoyable episode.
