Now, this was an inventive episode. Jess suffered head injuries in a previous fight with Sam over saloon girl Bobbie. Jess was planning to marry Bobbie, and settle down on land the Murdochs were going to give him. When the Murdochs went back on their promise, Jess went nuts. Mr. Murdoch tried whipping him, but instead of hurting, it seemed to have just made him madder. Jess then grabbed a shotgun and killed both. Dan, Johnny, and Lily all knew Jess was not a fighter or a killer. Doc said that the brain injuries could cause Jess to do things he wouldn't normally do, and that he may not have been aware of what he was doing. Dan sent Johnny out to look for Jess before the lynch mob could get to him. Meanwhile, he and Lily tried to get the information from Bobbie as to where he was. It was weird to see Denver Pyle as a bad guy, because on the Dukes of Hazzard he was always good 'ol Uncle Jesse. Johnny made clever use of the hound dog to find Jess. Dan joins him with Bobbie, and they took him into custody. Johnny makes a clever decision to decoy the mob, while Dan escapes with Jess to a nearby town. Jess' injuries get the better of him, and he goes after Sam. The gunfight ensues, and they kill each other. It was a great episode with good use of the stars and guest stars.moreless
