Lawman (1958)

This episode was similar to others that they have done. We have the young son that admires his outlaw father, and likes smarting off to law enforcement. Then, when the final showdown happens he sees his father for who he really is. The kid that played Frank's son was a jerk. I kept waiting for Dan or Johnny to backhand him. I had to settle for Johnny literally throwing him out of the office. This show featured two really good scenes. The first was at the Birdcage when Lily tries to convince Dan to take Johnny, and Dan insists on leaving Johnny out of it. It shows how much Dan really cares for Johnny. There's probably a few jerks out there that would claim that their gay but to me Dan and Johnny have more of a father-son, or master-apprentice relationship. The other is at the jail when Lily just breaks down and begs Dan not to go alone. This was a great job by Peggie Castle. Dan gives her a hug to comfort her, and then finally gives in and motions for Johnny to get his gunbelt and hat. the ending was kind of a mixed bag. I understand that they let Frank go with his family because he was dying and wanted to spend his final days with them, but they still let a crook get away.
