This episode was so funny, I was in tears from laughing so hard. The guy playing Owny has great comedic timing, and give John Russell for playing the straight man, and also getting in some good one-liners of his own. I guess when you shoot 35-40 episodes a year like they did back then, you need some episodes like this one so that it is not just all serious all the time. My favorite of the one-liners was Dan telling Johnny that having Owny for a deputy was the closest he's ever come to being killed. When you have a character like Owny, you know the episode is going to be either really funny or really stupid. Luckily, for the fans of the series, he was very funny. I kind of wondered if he inspired Barney Fife on the Andy Griffith show, or if it was the other way around. It was that good.moreless

    • Owny: When I come back, I'll curry-comb the evidence.
Dan: Curry-comb the...? Curry-comb the what?
Owny: The evidence. Wrangel's horse, that's evidence, isn't it?
      Dan: Yeah, yeah.

    • Dan: (not realizing Owny is dressed up like him) Holy jumpin' jehosophat! Looks like a stuffed monkey!

    • Dan: Owny, I... I did tell you to get slicked up. But, uh, I--I didn't tell you to get dressed up for a masquerade.
Owny: Mr. Troop, these clothes are exactly like yours.

    • Dan: Now, Owny, I'll tell you what you do. You, uh, you stay out here where there's nobody around and practice, see. After you run out of ammunition, if you're still alive, you come on back to town.
Owny: You think you'll be all right in town without me, Mr. Troop?
Dan: I think I can handle it, Owny. Now, don't you start shooting until I get out of sight, you hear?
