Charlie May takes the rap for his half brother Al on a robbery charge. Dan, Johnny, and Lily all know that Charlie didn't do it, but Charlie feels guilty for his mother leaving his stepfather. Al has no problem letting his half-brother take the fall.
This was a very emotional story. Charlie has been treated like dirt, because he was the "half-son" instead of the full born son. Al, the full born son, commits a crime. Charlie takes the rap in order to try to get in the good graces of his step father and half brother. It's a pretty scumbag thing to do to let him take the fall, and the guy that plays Al makes you want to see him get his behind kicked. Luckily, Johnny obliged on that later in the episode. That was also very clever and a very dangerous move for Dan to concoct that story of the witness dying in order to get the stepfather to do the right thing. There were some good heartfelt moments, including Lily trying to convince Charlie to tell the truth. That may have been Peggie Castle's best scenes since joining the cast. I also like the cute scene at the end where Lily is furious with Dan for lying to her. She tells him to never do it again. Dan winks at Johnny and says to Lily that he'll never do it again.
