EDIT
The Juror
AIRED:
One member of the Cauley gang is captured and brought to Laramie for trial, because the town where he was caught couldn't find anyone willing to serve on a jury. The other 5 Cauleys have threatened to kill anyone who served. Dan is sure Laramie will rally to the cause, but finds that fear is contagious. Finally, learning that it only takes one juror, under extreme circumstances, to try a case, Dan pulls one name out of the tax register list at random to be that juror. To his shock, it's Lily's name. She accepts, and then he must worry about her safety until the trial.moreless

This was a heck of an episode. It was great to see Johnny back. I guess he missed the previous episode because he was retrieving this Cawley character. This really told the story of how mass hysteria can strike a whole town. Being from a small town, this hit home, because I know so many folks like this myself. They talk big, but when the going gets tough, they head for the hills. Dan gave a great inspiring speech about the law, and how it belongs to the people not just him to carry out. Lily showed a lot of guts taking the summons, and sure made all the men in town look like a bunch of pantywaists. She can also handle a gun pretty well. It the first time we get to see her shoot somebody. Of the five members of the Cawley Gang that tried to spring Bob, Dan got three, Johnny got one, and Lily got one.moreless

    • Lily: Dan, it is out of the question.
Dan: I can get someone else.
Lily: I don't care if you can get someone else, I would still be on that jury.
Dan: Lily, you're just being stubborn. You know the Cauley gang is going to try... you know there's some risk attached!
Lily: The risk is no greater for me than it would be for anybody else.
      Dan: That's beside the point.
Lily: What is the point? The point is that I mean more to you than someone else might. Now that's it, isn't it?
Dan: No, it's the principle of the thing.
Lily: What principle? I am just doing what you asked all those other people to do.
      Dan: You're a woman.
      Lily: Just... any... woman?
Dan: You know better than that.
      Lily: That's all that counts.
