A gunfighter named Yawkey coms into town and says he is going to kill Dan at 3:30 that afternoon. Dan wants to know why, but Yawkey won't tell him. Johnny and Lily do their best trying to convince both of them not to go through with it.
This was a very intense episode. Guest star Ray Danton must have had ice water in his veins when they filmed this. This episode is a good showcase for the main three of Dan, Johnny, and Lily, and how much they mean to each other. You've got Dan refusing to back down from a gunfighter he knows he can't outdraw. Then you've got Johnny and Lily doing what they can to make sure Yawkey doesn't kill Dan. Johnny even goes so far as to pull a gun on Yawkey, which would cost him his badge in other towns. Dan's line about Johnny suddenly losing faith in him all of a sudden was funny, but I think he was missing Johnny's point. They are trying to keep him from getting killed. It's written in the code of westerns that no matter how good the villain might be, the hero doesn't back down. The ending with Yawkey's gun not being loaded, and him admitting that he wanted Dan to kill him was a great twist. Then you also have that very sweet ending between Dan and Lily.
