Show Summary

  • On Hiatus / TBD
When Rick Spleen (Jack Dee) was younger he dreamed of being a great stand up comic. Unfortunately, this didn't turn out so well. Now, he's a burnt out comedian who spends too much time arguing with his American co-writer Marty, is continually distracted by his family who are after his money (which he avoids spending at all costs!) and by Michael, the local cafe owner. The show originally aired on BBC Four, before moving to BBC Two for its second season.moreless

Lead Balloon is a show about a washed up comedian called Rick Spleen (Jack Dee) the show follows his constant struggle to get back into the public eye. He spends most of his episodes lying and claiming credit for things he didn't do, when he says something wrong he claims that his Amercian co-writer Marty (Sean Power)said it. The show is often quite predictable but still funny, great to watch on a thursday night after Nevermind the buzzcocks. The characters are well written and often very amusing, the house keeper Magda (Anna Crilly) is always a laugh an often "unheppy". The show is well worth a watch, great to just sit back and relax too!moreless
