Mickey: The blue felt-tip ran out on that one, that's why a bit of the sea is green. Pauline: Oh that's OK, you can have a green sea. Mickey: Especially if you wee in it like I do.
Mickey: It's a pen for my finance-a. (Fiancé)
The Gents' mothers can be glimpsed during the opening prison scenes in this episode. Mrs Dyson, Mrs Gatiss, and Mrs Shearsmith are eating food off of the table-tennis table, and Mrs Pemberton is playing pool with Pauline (she gives Pauline a high-five in one shot).
Reece missed his wife's three-month ultrasound so he could play Mrs. Stevens, one of Dr Carlton's patients (who's single line is "Hello").
Dr Carlton is based on the doctor from a sex change documentary, which is also the inspiration behind Barbara.
The new third season sees a different format for the series, with only one or two storylines each episode, rather than the sketch show format of previous years. Also, each episode finishes with the same events, seen through the eyes of a different character(s) each week. Don't worry, it's not as confusing as it sounds! Interviews with the guys around the start of the series stated we wouldn't see the Dentons or Hillary Briss this season, though they may reappear in the future. They also said there'd be no Les McQueen or Pop either. (As it turned out, that wasn't true: Les pops up in ep4, and Pop in ep2. However, these are little more than cameos.) Bernice is apparently still missing after her kidnapping by Papa Laz in the Christmas Special, we see a missing persons flier for her posted up. Mrs Beasley previously appeared in Death in Royston Vasey. She tried to donate her dead baby's things to the Charity Shop, but Vinnie and Reenie reduced her to tears.
