Ah, how youth can magnify a problem. Of course it's easy to sit back as an adult and realize how great a price Beaver was willing to pay in order to pursue a 14 year old girl who obviously had no loyalty to a relationship anyway. But having gone through that age once, you realize that Beaver's dilemma was no trivial matter.
Tony Dow as Wally was classic in this episode as translator between Beaver and his parents. He was both wise beyond his age in persuading his parents that Beaver was facing a real problem. Yet he displayed his typical sub-maturity in judging six pair of socks to equate to a six-week supply.
