  • Classic episode of a great show

In the Soup ranks as one of the funniest television moments of all time in my book. Theodore "Beaver" Cleaver got himself in another full blown mess as was his norm throughout most of the series run. And this one happens to be Beaver's funniest mess of all. He gets trapped inside a giant soup bowl mounted on a billboard at the instigation of his friend Whitey.

You get great performances all-around especially from Jerry Mathers as the embarassed Beaver and Hugh Beaumont as his sage-like father, Ward Cleaver. Ward handles Beaver's predicament exactly the way a parent should. He doesn't scold or try to embarass Beaver any further due to the fact that Beaver is embarassed enough already. Then there's the always hilarious Ken Osmond as the legendary Eddie Haskell. Though his screen time is limited in this episode Osmond has his usual funny moments when he appears.

It's said that laughter is the best medicine so if you're ever ailing check out In the Soup if they ever rerun it sometime on TV Land. You'll be glad you did. It contains some of the funniest moments in TV history. Jerry Seinfeld could have taken lessons.
