    Some spoilers below

Does anyone else agree? I haven't read the books yet since I just stumbled upon this series. But for a central couple of a new TV show, aren't they moving a long a little quickly. I'm guessing that each season (if it goes beyond one) will be based on one book in the series. So in that case, season 1 would have Richard and Kahlan ending up together but we're only at episode 7 and I hear that 8 will have them kissing already!

    What do you guys think?

I love the show btw, not everything is great but overall very entertaining and they definitely made the leads interesting (particularly Kahlan). The actor who plays Zedd I thought was a little overwhelming initially but I've gotten used to him.

Yea, even as a guy who's never read--much less heard of--the books, I feel like the pace is a bit too fast. Perhaps I'm too accustomed to the Smallville formula, but I do think they should slow down the pace quite a bit.

And as for the acting over-all... yea... A lot of grace there.

Ha yeah the smallville formula. Maybe we're just too conditioned with all the angst we see on every show, its a little disorienting when there isn't the same kind of waiting involved. Plus its hard to argue with a winning formula. I prefer continuing the angst longer but not as long as some series-like Smallville and X-Files--have done, which was probably too long. I saw some other Bones fans on here and I think that's kind of lead relationship this show can pursue, where the chemistry still exists while the characters learn about each other and constantly grow. And there is so much mythology here it seems that they can use to keep the seasons interesting. But I may be expecting too much.

I have read all 12 books and I think that if you read the books you might have a slightly altered opinion about that. warning spoiler about to occur: In the book called "Wizard's First Rule" Richard and Kahlan stay with a people called the Mud People and they almost kiss at that point and it is barely a quarter of the way through the book. I think that in the series they have a shorter amount of time and a lot of plot. Please realize that though I may agree with you on this point that also in the book at the end of the first in to the second book that Richard and Kahlan are talking about getting married. You will have to read the series to get any more out of me. Please realize that Hollywood wants to open more people to the series and also keep partially with the true actions of the characters of the books.

I don't mind if they move fast. I think they will realise they can't be together and stop after a while.

Yeah I definitely have no idea what else is coming up from the books and how the TV people will change it, but as long as they don't do it inconsistently (bring them together and then pull them apart because of something silly), I'm sure it'll be fine.

I especially thought that Kahlan's explanation of her powers to Greff (as Richard) in Identity, while great, was part of this too. Bridget Regan did a really good job with those scenes and while the shipper in my was squee'ing for her, I was also thinking how can she see Richard as 'the man she loves' already.

If you were caught up in a situation where you were the protector of the guy who saves the world(that's ironic) then I'm sure that alone would conflict a lot of strong feelings. Then, Richard is pretty good looking so.... yeah, I can see how she likes him already.

Yes, I was thinking that too. I didn't get the impression they were diving into anything 100%, there are times when they still doubt each other. Maybe the next episode will cool off the romance a bit. Richard might think twice after Kahlan "betrays" him. I'm sure the previews are misleading and she doesn't really, but whatever happens might be enough to put the brakes on for now. Maybe. Maybe not

In most tv shows where there is a major romance, that is the central conflict of the show. For something to be interesting there needs to be conflict, which when romance is your only story means dragging it out. If the books are followed then they do end up together by the end of book one, but things keep happening to get in their way, so they don't live happily ever after at that point.

I think they are moving along at a fine pace. I have read the books and I try to look at the show on its own, but they really love eachother early on. And I think rather than having them appart forever with tension, like with some other tv shows, they should be together. They are always fighting some war or another, and Kahlan and Richard keep getting separted and end up haveing to fight to be together. I would rather watch an epic love story than sexual tension.

I take full bets on the show cooling it of a bit given the books did so as well. Kahlan betraying Richard? What the.... I am certain that the show will stay true to the series and wait till the end. They probably won't have them apart forever by tension though Richard will be a bit more cautious toward kahlan after this episode. He should have been after Shota's worning but oh well. got to go a station is showing "identity".

    Spoilers from the book

I dont' think so. If I'm remembering right (its been a while since I read it) Richard was captured, broken by Denna, and was brought to the Garden of Life in order to invoke Orden. Zed and Kahlan arrived on their own, allowed to get that close becasue Rahl needed them (her at least)

But he escapes and uses Scarlet to get to them before that and Darken Rahl puts a web around him so Kahlan, Zed, and Chase don't recognize him (similar to the ep w/ Griff) to everyone who is against Darken Rahl he appears as Darken Rahl (because Kahlan went after him to kill him because he doesn't appear as Richard) and to Darken Rahl supporters he appears as Richard (that's how he knew Michael betrayed him...)

I agree with you, though i have only read the lst book. I have watched Smallville for all 8 season, its so dumb how long they play the when are we going to admit we like each other game. Also that is how fast it is in the book and i think that its important that the TV shows trys to stay close to the book on the more important issues, like this one. They are not really moving to fast, other Tv shows just kind of move slow. But i watched that 2! i proud to say that i've seen every eppy of smallville! lol

I think that they are doing a fine job. Even if you had read the books you will still be interested.

well technically if one is possessed, then it's not really kahlan and richard having sex, thus they are not moving too fast, it's character and ghost having sex...
