  • Puppeteer

Puppeteer was a perfect episode of Legend of The Seeker and I really enjoyed watching this episode because there was a lot of character and plot development as Darken Rahl decided to address Queen Milena himself in order to obtain the third box of Ordin. Meanwhile Zedd was posing as a Puppeteer to perform at the birthday celebration of the princess. I thought this episode had some really great touching moments as Rachel, an abused orphan, and Zedd bonded. This episode had lots of action, drama, intrigue, and magic. I really look forward to watching the next episode of Legend of The Seeker!!!!!!!moreless
  • O-M-G!

An amazing episode. Amazingly paced! I was on the edge of my seat the whole episode and loved how i was kind of a "Zed" episode. Developed his character more. I also loved the slave girl, she was adorable. As for the snob, she acted really well. Darken Rahl finally is developed a bit more. He is truly fascinating to watch. you don't know what to expect from him. I love what he does to the Queen at the end. Truly gruesome. Also the twist at the end with Zed was genius. I almost fractured my jaw at how far wide i open my mouth. This show keeps getting better and has inspired me to read the books. Bought the first Box set and am currently reading "Wizard's First Rule." I really pray that this show gets a second season!moreless
  • A fun, intelligent and fast paced episode. One of the best episodes in season one.

This was a great episode – fast paced, but also very well thought out and rich with interesting details, and a few laughs. The action focused mostly on the wizard Zeddicus, who was at his craftiest. There were suspenseful moments leading up to Zeddicus doing some unexpected and creative things to deal with menacing threats, going beyond the standard bolts of wizard fire. Zed's interaction with a beastly little spoiled brat princess was priceless, and the way he doted on the princess's angelic 10 year old slave Rachel was touching. The woman playing the mean nasty ice queen (mother of the princess) was a good actress – so good I found it hard to have any sympathy for her character. Really great sets and costumes too. There were a couple of short sword fights, but the pivotal battles in this one were fought with wits rather than weapons. This show keeps getting better and better!moreless
  • Finally, an episode that die-hard fans of the books can enjoy, due to its faithfulness to the events in the books.

Ever since this show started, I have had to separate my knowledge of the events that occur in the books with those that occur in the series, mainly because so many things have been changed or outright removed. This doesn't make Legend of the Seeker a bad show, but I can see why some hardcore fans of the books don't like the show. However, this episode was very close to the actual events in the books, much moreso than any previous episode. It's nice to finally see the mythos of the books coincide with the series; maybe the writers have finally found a happy medium, able to please the fans of the books as well as still presenting a compelling weekly show. I look forward to seeing more episodes like this in the future.moreless
  • Hooked from beginning to end!

This episode was excellent! I felt excited for the crew when I thought that they were getting closer to Lord Raul (sp?), and Zed stole the episode with his puppeteer act! As a new viewer to this show, I'm really getting into the whole story of the seeker and the chemistry building between Richard and Kahlan. The queen and the princess were quite annoying, but they were very convincing. And the young girl was the cutest! I loved her charming ways and how she was determined to get the box to Richard and Kahlan. Excellent actors and actresses on this episode! I can't wait until next week!moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (2)

    • The events in this episode are largely true to events surrounding the third Box of Orden in the book- Wizard's First Rule. However, in the book, Rachael is aided by the wizard, Giller, rather than by Zedd. Giller was Kahlan's wizard, who left her service to protect the Box. Kahlan wrongly believed Giller abandoned her for greed. In this show, Giller is an evil wizard helping Darken Rahl.

    • In this episode we learn that there have only been three wizards of the first order that have been born in the past seventy years. One is Zedd, another is dead and the last works for Darken Rahl.

  • QUOTES (6)

    • Zedd: The great Darken Rahl, master of D'Harans, was defeated not by the seeker, nor by the first wizard, but by a 10 year old girl!
(Zedd laughs and Darken Rahl cuts off Zedd's head)
      Darken Rahl: It's a puppet!
Zedd: I told you I was the grand puppeteer.

    • Darken Rahl: (To Queen Milena after he slits her wrist and is watching her die) Haven't fear for your daughter, your highness. She'll grow up around the finest jewels. As a slave in the mines of Apinasea.

    • Seeker Puppet: Beware Darken Rahl, I am the Seeker! And the time has finally come for me to kill you and fulfill the prophecy.
Queen Milena: What is the meaning of this? Stop this at once!
Darken Rahl: No. No, please continue with the show. I'd like to see how this little fairytale ends.
Seeker Puppet: Come and fight me, you coward!
Darken Rahl Puppet: I came here to enjoy myself and celebrate the princess's birthday, and here you are, as always, trying to spoil the fun for everybody! You know, you really are the worst seeker ever. I'm going to have to kill you now and end your silly quest!
      (Darken Rahl laughs and applauds)

    • Kahlan: Richard, what if this is it?
      Richard: What do you mean?
Kahlan: I mean, what if you kill Rahl? It'll all be over. The magic hold he has over his forces will be gone. Some people might fight for a while, but most would wake up. Back to their lives, their families. So could you.
Richard: I have no family left.
Kahlan: You could find somebody to start one with.

    • Zedd: Rachel, you're now the most important person in the world.
Rachel: Don't worry. It'll be easy to get out. Everyone treats me like I'm invisible anyway.

    • Kahlan: Is Ruben a tall man with long white hair, thinks he's really funny?
