Sanctuary was a superb episode of Legend of The Seeker. I really enjoyed watching this episode because it had a cool story, character growth, and lots of action. It was nice to see more of Darken Rahl and for him to take action himself. Richard, Kahlan and Zedd end up helping some really nice people and a painter with a very special talent. His gift was unique and interesting. I thought it was great how Darken Rahl almost has his way. Richard is given the Book of Counted Shadows copy in the hopes it will help him one day defeat Darken Rahl, but what he finds out is tough news to bear. I look forward to watching the next episode of Legend of The Seeker!!!!!!!moreless
  • Another very good episode from LOTS, which is coming to the close of its first season by proving to us we would very much like to see a second one! Can't wait for the next two epis!moreless

This was different from the previous one, more a character episode than an action-packed one. I liked how the story has a huge, beautiful library as its backdrop. And within that relatively narrow setting, a small village and a local library, we can pretty much see all the structure that supports (or thwarts, in some occasions) the Seeker's quest. The loyal, self-sacrificing monk, the opportunist employee who tries to make himself look good to the D'harans by betraying his colleague, the knowledge-seeking, moral librarian Livia, her rebelled son, frustrated by Rahl's oppressive regime, the self-absorbed artist who indulges himself in an escapist mentality, the crook who tries to profit by every situation, regardless of who is in power.

Zedd, Richard and Kahlan are caught in the middle of everything and as always they discover that the larger quest is linked to the smaller one, even though it may not seem so at first. So the finding of the Book of Counted Shadows goes through the same path as the finding of Livia's son, and it is only by looking for him that they manage to find it. All's well that ends well, as it is proven in the end that the painter isn't really the self-centered person that he seems, since he makes the ultimate sacrifice to save everyone else. I also liked the re-appearance of Lord Rahl, the actor is getting more comfortable in portraying him and I must say, he is a good choice. Hopefully we'll see some more of him in the final epis.moreless
  • Nice episode - it has a fairy tale quality that is done really well - LOTS keeps getting better and better

As has been usual of late there were interesting plots, visually beautiful, well acted/directed. The magic in this ep was very interesting and like a fairy tale. An artist who learns how to paint people and things into a world of his own creation. A library full of old books some of which are magical, one of which is a copy of the book of shadows and well hidden. The library was a beautiful creation. I love the scene looking up at all the stories and stories of scrolls and papers and books. It was very cool. And Darken Rahl - that actor is so good at the cold ultimate evil dark lord type guy. love it! the scene before he makes his decision what do do with the painting where his face is in a dark shadow was lovely! When this show is good it is REALLY good. I think season two is going to be even better!moreless
