Leo the Lion

Show Summary

Leo the Lion was produced in Japan as the sequel to

Kimba the White Lion

Known in Japan as "Onward, Leo"; Leo is the Japanese name for the Kimba character. Unlike Kimba, this show was not produced in cooperation with an American syndicator, which resulted in this show not being exported from Japan for a long time. Produced in 1966, it aired in Japan immediately after the conclusion of the Kimba series. Leo The Lion was finally imported to the US and dubbed into English in 1984, and shown on the Christian Broadcasting Network. Because none of the original people involved with the creating the American Kimba series were involved with Leo The Lion, the character names reverted to the Japanese versions.
